I put in a Feature request a while ago asking that the BookComponentMIFWash.dll file be made part of the default FrameMaker installation since it was so useful.

I just received notice that it has been moved to "In Test", so it looks like next release, people aren't going to have to find it in the scripting examples, move it, or edit the MIF file to include it!

Edited to add: This is nowhere near as flexible as Rick Quattro's script for saving between multiple versions of FM or MIF, but it is useful for people who need to run a book through a MIF wash.
