I have been working with FM12 for a year.

This morning I had a crash with FM 12. I decided to de-install the application and do a new

installation because FM deny to start.

I did: deinstall - reboot - install - reboot

At the end FM seems to start, exept the dashboard. FM crashes.

With a standard message.

It seems to be a problem with the backup file of the crashed session this morning.

Do someone know where to find this files?

Can someone help?

Hi There,

Greetings from Adobe...!

Could you please confirm the below points-

  1. Is it crashing on launch on the splash screen (loading screen) or when creating a new Framemaker document? If it is crashing on a loading screen then you may try to take the backup of all the fonts on your Desktop from 'C:\Windows\Fonts' and then delete the fonts at 'C:\Windows\Fonts' and then try to launch Framemaker and see if that makes any difference.
  2. Please try to recreate the preferences of Framemaker by following th

I forget to insert the FM message when I try to start FM.

So the installation probably is not the problem, but the FM start.

Sorry, I am in very deep trouble. So my problem details are dropping disorded.

Here is the next (hopefully most important) information:

This morning I had a crash. From this point, I could not start FrameMaker.

The FM GUI starts, but not the dashboard and the last session could not be reloaded.

The error message (see above) stops the start process.

And the re-installation does not solve the problem.

What was special with this crash?

It was a slow crash.... First all open FM files appear empty. But the cursor was still active.

I tried to exit FM, and selected one file to be stored (in the pod save and close currently open files).

Then, the crash was fulfilled.

What I guess is, that there is a log file, that includes the information about the last session. And I guess this file is corrupt.

But I do not find anything.

That looks like a Windows message - are you getting any messages when you start up FM?

No, - the second Framemaker window (where messages appear) does not start.

It is a crash when you start Framemaker.

Perhaps, the log file helps:

I have to correct my answer: There are no log files. I mixed up the date. Sorry.

  2. Please try to recreate the preferences of Framemaker by following the below steps-
  3.       Close FM 12.
  4.       Rename the folder 12 to 12_old in 'C:\Users\UserAccount\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Framemaker'.
  5.       Then rename folder "Linguistics" to "Linguitics_old" in 'C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe'.
  6.       Rename folder "Linguistics" to "Linguitics_old" in 'C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe'.
  7.       Re-launch Framemaker and check the issue again.

You may also try to create a new local admin account and login under that account and launch Framemaker and see if that works.

Regards,

Ajit
