I have a problem. I am trying to PDF Chinese in FrameMaker 15.02.503 and the words are coming out incorrectly. The font used is Microsoft YaHei and the problem occurs in my heading style but not in the body style.
The following is the heading in FrameMaker:
In the PDF, the heading looks very different, like this.
Again, I do not have the same problem with my body content.
Any thoughts about how I am screwing this up?
Sounds like a font issue - is it not using the correct font inside the PDF?
When I inspect the heading in Acrobat, I see it is 13 pt. Microsoft YaHei, which is correct and what it is in FrameMaker. However, in the PDF the characters are different than in FrameMaker and in the PDF the characters are wrong.
The Chinese body text, which is correct both in FrameMaker and also in the PDf, is 11 pt. Microsoft YaHei.
can you please share a sample file with the issue and the font at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can look at this. There are a few font fixes planned for update 3 of FrameMaker which will come out in a few weeks so just want to make sure it is covered as part of that.
Done. Note that I might be borking something all by myself, and it might not be a FrameMaker issue. However, the body text works, so there's some inconsistency here.
Adobe can reproduce this curious issue with Chinese characters and it will be addressed/fixed in their next FM software update. Case closed.
