In FM, how do you configure Figure and Table captions to have consecutive numbering from file (chapter) to file? We are not using a chapnum, just continuous numbering like pages.

Use a Series Label dedicated to each function, like F: for figure and T: for tables (this is in the Paragraph Format's Autonumber Format).

Make sure nothing else uses or resets them, except when specifically intended, such as Paragraph Format names like "Figure.1".

If this is a Book, in the Book and each file, make sure the Document Numbering properties for Paragraph
(*) Continue Numbering from Previous Paragraph in Book

Don't put more than one of the same autonumbered paragraph tag in an Anchored F

Don't put more than one of the same autonumbered paragraph tag in an Anchored Frame (the counters don't advance correctly).
