We have a FrameMaker 11 book that includes about 200 pages of content and several hundred graphics. We had trouble with FrameMaker crashing when the book was updated and saved as a PDF. Some staff believe a contributing factor is the fact the imported gif graphics are scaled approximately 48% during the update/save process. Is this something that could really be a cause of slow processing time and instability of the pdf creation process?

Probably not, but how are the graphics imported - by copy or by reference? How much memory and TEMP space do you have on the machine doing the PDF creation task? Are you creating the PDF for print or online viewing? Which joboptions file was specified for the PDF creation?
