Hi,

We are starting to work on a lab guide template.  I would like to be able to show the students the high level lab instructions that they should be able to do and give them the option of expanding the instructions to show the sub-steps if they need them.  I think this is possible, but am not sure how.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Cindy !

Should the students be able to collapse/uncollapse section in a FrameMaker Dokument?

Or in a published output like Responsive HTML5?

Specifically, in Fm 2017 you can use the options available at Insert > Publish Effects to insert drop-down and expanding effects for your digital output, things like the HTML5 Stefan mentioned.

Previous versions of FrameMaker will have that option in a different location.

Fm 2015 has the options at Special > Publish Options > Dynamic HTML Effects

And in FM itself, you can collapse sections in structured FrameMaker with element boundaries turned on (and of course in the Structure view).

Also looking at Conditional Text might be an idea. By tagging content with conditionals, you can show/hide content in FrameMaker itself, and use the "Dynamic Content" feature to show/hide content in the Responsive HTML5 output.

And to add onto Stefan's thought...from within structured Fm, you can filter by attribute value
