(FM12 on Win7)
Quite bizarre. Anyone got a trailhead for this?
FM12 spontaneously stops accepting the letter u (or the uppercase, U), from the keyboard that I am using to type this post. So the keyboard works, Win7 works, and the browser works.
Restarting FM12 does not seem to solve the problem.
Rebooting Win7 might work. I'll try that next.
@Mike Wickham,
That's it! ChangeFormatMenu.jsx.
Hmmm, where do I get the latest one?
Best,
Whit

And here's the follow-up after I rebooted: FM12 accepts U, which is the uppercase u, but does not accept u, the lowercase.
Of course this browser still does, which again means the keyboard and Win7 are still accepting 'u' as we all expect.
Creating a document with FM using the default Portrait template, the behavior is the same. U works and u does not.
I am totally confused. Why is FM12 not accepting the lowercase u ?

Any language issues at play here?

@Jeff_Coatsworth,
Thanks. No config change re: language.

Did you recently install an Extendscript? I saw a thread either here or
in the FrameUsers groups, this week, for a particular extendscript that
contained a bug that causes exactly this problem. The comments to the
script said the problem had been fixed, but maybe you got the older
version of the script. If I remember right, it was a script that
searches and changes a paragraph from one format to another.

I'm not sure if the file in the "Resources" link on this page actually
contains the fix or not:
http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2011/11/extendscript-of-the-week-findchange-xref-formatconditional-tagvariable.html
If you scroll down the page to comments, you'll see where I originally
posted the bug and the author posted code that fixed it. You may still
have to enter the code manually. Here is the fix as originally:
Kindly replace the following statement in ChangeFormatMenu.jsx and it
should take care of the problem.
Original :: var NewCommand = DefineCommand(1,”Change Formats…”,”Change
Formats…”)
New :: var NewCommand = DefineCommand(1,”Change Formats…”,”Change
Formats…”,””)

@Mike Wickham,
Thanks.
Unfortunately, I do not notice this line in ChangeFormatMenu.jsx: var NewCommand = DefineCommand(1,"Change Formats...startup","Change Formats...")
The only line with NewCommand = is this line: var NewCommand = DefineCommand(1,"Change Formats...startup","Change Formats...")
(Sorry: I don't know Extendscript yet.)

I don't know ExtendScript either, but it looks like you found the
correct line. It's a few lines up from the bottom of the file. Just use
a plain text editor to change the punctuation at the end, as described
in the previous message.
