Hi.

FM2015 occasionally crashes while I save .fm file as .rtf (About 5 or 6 time in 10).

When it finishes the conversion, the rtf file size goes well over 800MB, even though the .fm size is about 1.64MB.

Question 1)

Is there any know bag fix about FM2015 crashing while saving as rtf?

     * I found a topic with same problem with FM12 but not FM2015...

Question 2)

Is there any way around to make the rtf file size smaller?

If it was Office word, there is a registry key to add to avoid rtf becoming massive.

Thank you for your help in advance!!

First I would ensure that your copy of FM2015 is up to date with all patches and then try again. If it still occurs, can you reproduce the crash with a simple file based on one of the factory templates? If so, then you should submit a bug to Adobe using the Tracker (link back on main FM page). Also, have you been submitting your crash log files to fmerror@adobe.com?

Dear Jeff

Thank you for the advice. I confirmed the FM2015 is up to date (13.0.5.547) and tried again.

However, it crushed and stopped again.

With simpler file, it was successfully converted to rtf.

So the original file seems too big for FM2015 to deal with...

Anyway, I still submit the crush log to fmerror@adobe.com and ask some help.

Thank you.

Do you have many graphics (especially JPEG's) imported by copy in your FM document? If so, these are probably being output in a more simplified raster format within the RTF and can be huge compared to a compressed JPEG file.

Dear Arnis

Thank you for your advice.

The fm file actually has about 100 illustration in it in png.

Originally those were svg, but some text was not shown in FM, so I converted to png.

Is there any recommended graphic type for rtf? (ai, tiff, eps etc,.)

You won't get any help from the error log reporting - that's just a data collection mechanism for FM engineers. Are the graphics copied into the FM source content or are they imported by reference (the recommended way)?

Dear Jeff.

Those graphics are in "Images" folder and placed in anchored frames. So I guess those are "imported by reference".

The reason I could not use original SVG graphics is sometimes texts on those SVG were missing.

However, there are discussion about fixing this problem with svg (font missing nor not embedded... etc.,).

I will try fixing those original SVG graphics then save .fm as .rtf, since this is maybe the quickest way at the moment.

Thank you for your advice!!
