FrameMaker 2019 Update 8 missing from downloads page

We are trying to download the latest update (8) for FrameMaker 2019, but it is missing from the website.

The Downloads page only lists up to Update 7 for FM2019:

But the Fixed Issues page, clearly states there was an Update 8 released recently that fixes a bad bug with .mif files:

(Unfortunately we are unable to use the built-in update-functionality in the software).

Does anyone have a link to where it can be found?

You can install the update when you click on Help | Updates.

I also know that Update 8 is not on this page. Not good. I do not know another page, where you could download it.

As I said, unfortunately we are unable to use the built-in update-functionality in the software (Help > Updates is even grayed out). We have very strict IT security policies here, new software installations has to go through review, and no users have admin access, and FrameMaker is distributed via Software Center (and is bundled with some custom plugins).

I'm expecting us to need the installation files for the update. I'm searching all over the place with no luck. 😞

After contacting Adobe they have posted the update.

And they added the update 1 for FrameMaker 2020 at the top! Perfect!

Funny enough, they first fixed the position of the FM2020-update.

Then a bit later they added Update 8 for FM2019 ... AT THE BOTTOM and not grouped with the other FM2019 updates near the top. Apparently it is very tricky to add updates anywhere but the bottom. 😂

Yes, fair point. We are aware of the issue with updates appearing at the end of the table first, and excuse for the inconvienience it causes. Unfortunately, there is some more complexity IT-wise behind it and the updates get properly sorted manually after being added automatically first. This will happen with then entry for Update 8 as well. We will improve that in the future.

Based on that error it seems they are having problems and that this isn't intended.

I found this page to download FM 2019. At least the links work:

I do not know why this is FM 2019 and not FM 2020, as this is a general FM download page. And I do not know where the main download page with all previous versions is now.

The latest version can only be downloaded here: Free Trial.

We are already working on improving this in the future.

Das gleiche gilt für FM 2020.0.2. Das habe ich auch noch nicht nirgendwo gefunden.

Unter solchen Rahmenbedingungen kann ich die Verwendung von FrameMaker im unserem Unternehmen nicht wirklich empfehlen.

FM 2020.0.2 ist noch nicht freigegeben. Das kann noch ein paar Wochen dauern. Aber ich kenne den Zeitplan nicht.

Download der Updates: @Stefan-Gentz  hat ja bereits gesagt, dass Adobe an dem Problem dran ist. Er wird sich sicherlich nochmal melden.

danke für die schnellen Infos. Ich finde es trotzdem befremdlich, dass ein Weltkonzern wie Adobe es nicht schafft, Progamme und Updates den Kunden zügig bzw. überhaupt zur Verfügung zu stellen.

Dann warten wir halt noch ein wenig.

Hallo zusammen,

Update 7 wurde zurückgezogen, daher ist leider kein Update von Update 7 auf Update 8 möglich. Wir sind uns darüber bewusst, dass das nicht optimal ist. Für die Zukunft haben wir dieses Szenario abgefangen. Leider können wir die Zeit nicht zurückdrehen, und für Update 7 User nicht mehr nachträglich ändern.

Die einzige Möglichkeit ist daher, Update 8 manuell herunterzuladen, und zu installieren.

Und damit kommen wir zum zweiten Problem: Die Seite https://supportdownloads.adobe.com/ war eine sehr alte Seite die zahlreiche Probleme hatte (z.B. die berühmte "falsche Sortierung", Download über veraltete FTP-Links, etc.). Daher wird mit Hochdruck an einem neuen Download-Portal gearbeitet.

Parallel musste leider die alte Seite vorzeitig vom Netz genommen werden.

Das führte dazu, dass es derzeit diese "Lücke" gibt.

Wer dringend FrameMaker 2019, Update 8, benötigt, kann mir einen Private Message schicken.

Update 2 für Adobe FrameMaker (Summer 2020 Release) ist derzeit für Ende Mai geplant.

Hallo Stefan,

vielen Dank für die "internen" Infos.

Wir hatten halt schwer zu kämpfen mit dem "Apostrophen"-Bug in Version 7. Der hat uns manche MIFs aus der Übersetzung zerschossen. Mittlerweile haben wir aber das Thema im Griff.

V2020 soll ja XLIFF direkt unterstützen. Dann hätte es sich ausgeMIFt bei Übersetzungen. Unser ÜM ist jedenfalls sehr gespannt. Aber wir wollen auf 2020.0.2 warten und das Sicherheits-Update APSB21-14 mitnehmen. FrameMaker kann dann gerne auch ein deutsches UI bei der neuen XLIFF-Funktion haben. 🙂
