How Can I Set Up PDF Display from FM 2019?

Using FM 2019 all patched up.

How do I preset PDF properties I create from FM, such as Magnification set to Fit Page?

Also, how do I publish an optimized PDF from FM? For example, I just published a PDF from FM that was 15 MB and then I optimized it in Acrobat IX Pro and the file is now 1.5 MB. I would prefer that FM just create the 1.5 MB PDF in the first place.

Cheers,

Sean

I've never seen a way to set up Frame/Adobe to do all that. You used to be able to tell Distiller to Fit to Page, but it doesn't seem to stick well, and I haven't found out how to do it with the new version of Frame. There's never been a way to set it to save at the reduced size.

You might check Shlomo Perets MicroTypes website for the Acrobat Timesavers utilities. I think it lets you configure a lot of that stuff ahead of time, but I'm not positive.

Hi Sean

In the general tab in publish pod (PDF settings)

you have zoom level and layout settings with FM2019.

Regarding Optimize PDF, currently we are taking all images as-is without downgrading the images and so size might be higher. Please use following for reducing size.

Optimizing PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Pro

And, so the controls were right there in front of my face. As my wife says, I should look with both eyes open.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just tested. I set the following for PDF in the Publish Pod:

  • Open PDF Document on Page 1
  • At Zoom: Fit Page
  • Layout: Default (note that using Distiller disables this control)

Then:

  1. Saved the settings.
  2. Published the PDF.
  3. Viewed the PDF.
  4. PDF displays at 306% -- definitely not Fit Page.

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers,

Sean
