I love the welcome screen in FM2019 ...

It was a great first impression for us when we upgraded from FM11 to FM2019.3... 😆

Luckily it's only the welcomescreen thing, so it's harmless, but does anyone know what might cause it?

That was a bug that happened in some early 2019 versions, when you are "offline" (that is, disconnected from the internet). Make sure to update to the latest FM 2019 version (Help > Updates) and are properly connected to the internet.

I'm definitely online, and signed in, but Help > Updates are grayed out for whatever reason (maybe FM thinks I'm offline, or IT installed it in a way that blocks that feature). We have very strict network security, so it's likely that any "unusual" type of connection or content is blocked.

Opening webpages normally in various browsers works just fine.

We will see if it persists once we update to a newer version of FM2019. Or at least maybe then it fails a bit more gracefully. 🙂

Yup, being locked down would do it - have your IT free up your machine so you (or they) can do the updates
