Hi Guys
Maybe someone can assist. I have to create an illustrated parts catalogue in framemaker. Its is quite big with more than 5 000 parts and 200 illustrations. Is there any way to create such a document by inporting an Excel spreadsheet?

Hi Chris,
Yes, you can create very long Fm docs by importing database and spreadsheet styles. I'd be happy to take a peek at your files to give you a better answer.

Hi Chris, it's easiest to hop in an online meeting to have you walk me through it.
Text or call me at 7145852335 to arrange a convenient time.

Conversely, it's also possible to generate Framemaker MIF directly from the spreadsheet. I've done it for turning a BOM into a Reference Page table of call-outs with xrefs to SKUs and descriptors.
What Matt has in mind probably has an easier learning curve.
There's evidence on the greater web that enterprises are using FM in a process that starts from a database and generates PDF on demand. There are several ways to do it, depending on the skill set at hand.

Hi Chris - you can't attach stuff on the forum (except screenshots) - if you want to talk to Matt Sullivan about what you're trying to accomplish, send him a Private Message on the forum & he will respond.

And to do that, hover over his name above the first response to your question, and then click on the Message button. This will initiate a private conversation between the two of you.

I was just yesterday wondering where the PM send/read links were. If one chooses the correct Help link (Forum Help, not Help), and pokes around a while, they may eventually discover: The Private Message system
