I need to produce SGML out of FM2015 and the customer wants paragraphs beyond a certain level of nesting (1.1.1.1) to have the text start on the same line as the Title. This is per a military spec (MIL-STD-38784), so I am hoping someone might have had to deal with it in the past. Any ideas?

On the Pagination tab of the Paragraph Designer, you can set the Format of a paragraph to Run-In Head, and specify the Default Punctuation that separates that heading from the following text. You must set these properties for your title paragraphs.

Do one of the following, depending on how you're doing your formatting:

  • set these properties in one or more paragraph formats, and apply the relevant paragraph format from the EDD
  • add rules to your EDD that set these properties

Thanks for your help. I'm currently setting the properties in my EDD, but it had not occurred to me that Pagination would be the place to look for run-in settings.
