When I open file .mif with images the program says, that the images would be displayed as grey boxes.

Were the images imported by reference or embedded into the source FM document? You may also have a setting turned on to speed up the display by not rendering images on the page.

Turning off the image display, will show nothing - not the grey boxes. The grey boxes are displayed when FM can't render the graphic, i.e. it is missing for a referenced graphic [but then FM will prompt for a new location for each missing image] or the internal imported by copy image is corrupt [or missing the filter].
