The only export to illustrator option I am seeing in Adobe Fresco is to edit on desktop. Can I edit Fresco files on Illsutrator on iPad or the sync as an editable file only works for desktop?

If you export as PDF from Fresco and open in AI on iPad that's the best you'll get for an iPad only transfer.
Not a good workaround as the files has limited editablity in that format.
