Best way to import reference images?

Wondering what the best method is for importing an image layer?  I have been importing them via Adobe Draw projects but I assume there's a way to directly import them into the project from one's photo library (in my case, my iPad)?

Just tap the photo icon on the toolbar, and you can bring in any image right onto a layer:
