Hi,

Getting error code 191 when trying to install Adobe Fresco via Creative Cloud. The log is as follows.

FATAL: Error (Code = 191) executing in command 'AddUWPAppxCommand' for package: 'Assets', version:4.7.1.1284
FATAL: Error occurred in install of package (Name: Assets Version: 4.7.1.1284). Error code: '191'
ERROR: hdhelper exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Desktop Common\HDBox\HDHelper.exe failed to install UWP app with error code 1 - OS Message: C:\adobeTemp\ETR18EA.tmp\1\frescoApp\gemini-win32-winui-app_4.7.1.1284_x64_Retail.msix#@#OS_Error_Code: 0x80073cf6#@#OS_Error_String: AppxManifest.xml(105,16): error 0x80070005: Cannot register the Adobe.Fresco_4.7.1.1284_x64__pc75e8sa7ep4e package because the following error was encountered while registering the windows.contentType extension: Access is denied.

I have tried to reset my PC using recovery media, use wsreset.exe and all of the other support tips provided in the error code 191 article.
Please help.

I'm sorry to hear that the previous troubleshooting steps didn't resolve the issue, @JonathonMS81. Let's try a few more steps to get to the bottom of this:

 

  1. Close all Adobe applications.
  2. Open "Installed Apps": Start > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  3. Search for "Microsoft Visual C++."
  4. Select "Microsoft C++ Redistributable," click the three dots, and choose "Modify."
  5. On "Microsoft C++ Redistributable Setup," click on "Repair."
  6. Click "Close" once the setup is successful.
  7. Additionally, install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from here: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
  8. Restart your computer.
  9. Relaunch Creative Cloud and reinstall Fresco.

 

If the issue persists, kindly upload the error log file here on Creative Cloud (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/share-your-files-in-6-simple-steps/td-p/12967...) & system specification so that we can further investigate.

Hi Anshul,

I can install Creative Cloud, in fact i have been using it to try and install Fresco.

I have also tried installing the latest AMD drivers to no effect.

Thank you for confirming, @JonathonMS81. I appreciate your effort & patience. One last thing you can try is to open "Windows PowerShell" as an administrator from the Start menu and execute the command: "get-appxpackage *Fresco* -AllUsers | remove-appxpackage".

 

After this, attempt to install Fresco again.

 

If the issue persists, please let us know, and we'll escalate the problem to Microsoft with the error and logs for further investigation.
