[How To] Paste copied selection without creating a new layer

I want to select with the lasso tool, copy the selection and paste it in the same layer. But the only "paste" option I've found is the one in the layers menu that creates a new layer. How can I paste in the same layer? Thanks!

Hi Jorgen.

Will it work for you to just duplicate the selection then move that duplicate wherever you want to move it on the same layer? If that will work you'll see that selection option when the Lasso tool is selected.

Let me know if I've misunderstood what you're needing to do.

Sue.

Hi Sue,

Thanks! Yes, that would work, but how do I duplicate the selection (working on an iPad)

Best,

Jorgen

Jorgen.

Darn, I started writing out the instructions for you and realized that even that creates an additional layer. I could swear there's a way to do it though so I'm asking around now.

I'll let you know what I discover.

Jorgen,

Not possible. Not yet. You'd have to just merge the layers.

I'm sorry; I was certain there was a way to do it.

Voici la solution :
Sélectionner une zône, Clic sur les ... dans la barre de gestion des calques puis clic sur Dupliquer la sélection, ensuite nous pouvons, la déplacer sur le même calque.

Thanks Yves.

That's what I was going to suggest. But it too creates a new layer.

Thanks, Yves and Sue. Merging the layers afterwards seems to be the only option. I see now that copy-paste funtionality is mentioned by several people as feature suggestions.
