Looking for guide on how to use Fresco WITHOUT a touchscreen tablet

New Here ,

I have a Wacom Cintiq 16 tablet (has its own screen but is not touchscreen) and am using a desktop. It has been frustrating learning to use Fresco, as every official and community Youtube tutorial seems to assume that the person has touchscreen control abilities (I realize a lot of people do, but I assume there are also a lot of us without touchscreen controls!).

Apologies if this exsits, and I'm just missing it, but I desparately wish I had a comprehensive and detailed guide geared specifically for those who were using a non-touchscreen tablet on the desktop version, because I assume (and I hope) that there should be alternative workarounds using the keyboard to take advantage of all of the touchscreen gestures. Bascially, I want to do EVERYTHING I'm seeing people do in tutorials (where they are using Ipads) but using my non-touchscreen wacom and desktop, and I'd like to see a 'translation' for all of those things can be accomplished with just keyboard and stylus.

I have done a little searching and maybe I'm just not seeing things or I'm using the wrong key words in the search, but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.

Frankly, it just 'feels bad' to have those touch modifier buttons there on the screen staring at me, but not being able to use them. Ideally, if I'm not able to use them, I'd like them to go away, but for me to be able to bind keyboard buttons to play the role of the touch modifier buttons.

Just as an example, using the 'ruler' tool, when people open the ruler on the touchscreen version, they can manipulate it and twist it all around, I can't find anyway to do that with my non-touchscreen desktop version. But I'd rather not just get answers to each function like this in a one-off way. I'd like to see a detailed and comprehensive guide all in one place.

Hello @default2wugfzlh4e5u,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind trying to use the keyboard shortcuts for Fresco (https://adobe.ly/3RCfHxc) and checking if it helps?

If not, kindly provide some examples of the workflow that you are having trouble with so that we can better assist you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

I get you about the lack of awareness about the Windows Desktop abilities. As a matter of fact, I use both Ipad and Windows for Fresco so I am aware of the differences and hurdles...

I cannot give you a fully detailed explanation about the whole shebang, but I am thinking of recording a tutorial to show the possibilities of both keyboard shortcuts and ring key (I have an XP Pen Tablet, so the wording might be different on a Wacom
A while ago I have put together that PDF
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J2UE8Kv8C6C8J0O8My8JJrU_WaD-NcUM/view?usp=drive_link
Where you can see the standard, well documented shortcuts, that I use with both the express keys (8 in my case) and the roller touch
I got 3 functions with the roller
Rotate, Brush size and zoom in and out
And I get 7 functions attached to my express keys (such as pan, eyedropper, undo, last brush used etc) and K8 being the key that switches between the 3 functions of the roller.

If you can get an alternative keyboard for the wacom such as these

then you can program even more shortcuts

Now there would need a couple of shortcuts assigned that aren't there for the moment (particularly in animation), but I think you can get it work pretty easily with what is available.
