CS4 installation Yosemite

New Here ,
Dec 08, 2014 Dec 08, 2014

This is totally enervating!!

Last week I had a chat with Martin from Adobe-Support who suggested to deinstall and reinstall CS4 after backing up from time machine (due to toe licence system of adobe). So I followed as demanded to find:

1) no chat option left – only forum support

2) Setup Fehler - Setup hat einen Fehler festgestellt und kann nicht fortgesetzt werden. Für weitere Hilfestellung wenden Sie sich an den Kundendienst von Adobe.

3) Translation: Setup Error - Setup has encountered an error and can not continue. For further assistance, please contact the Adobe Customer Service.

Although CS4 is running under Yosemite after installing Java for OS X 2014-001, there is no way to install CS4. – I switched already to the installer ADBESTDSCS4_LS4 (from the support page).

How can I resolve the installation problem to work with CS4 under Yosemite.

Best regards

Jens Fabry

Jens Fabry what process did you utilize to remove the migrated copy of CS4?

Restoring Adobe applications from a time machine backup or migration does cause problems.  Usually it is possible to recover by running the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  You will then want to follow this with the use of the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal.  You can find additional details at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.

I retrieved cs4 from time machine and was asked from adobe to remove the cs4 complete (restoring from time machine is not working because the user rights are not reinstalled) – although I used only the deinstallation software from adobe (and cs4 was not completely removed (what I can solve with the link above). I fear that there is a general problem to reinstall cs4 under yosemite. The installer stops right at the beginning and asks me to contact adobe. – So although cs4 is running under yosemite (with an older java runtime) it is not possible to reinstall adobe with the included installer.

I very much appreciate a work around for the installation. Or a hint on how to precede with a time machine backup.

Best regards

Jens Fabry please update this discussion if you have any questions regarding the steps listed in message #1.  If you still continue to receive installation issues after the use of the CC Cleaner tool then your installation log files can be reviewed to determine what additional causes there may be for the installation to fail.

Tobisagt did you also initially migrate your installation to your new iMac? If so have you tried the suggestions in post #1?

I'm attempting to install Premium right now on a Yosemite Mac. I already had Photoshop and Illustrator set up and I was just trying to install Dreamweaver. I've tried a few things but the installer keeps on freezing on the "Insert Disk 2" pop-up.

So far I've:

-     Tried to install just Dreamweaver (fail)
-     Installed the Java I needed, restarted, install Dreamweaver (fail)

-     Un-installed the current programs, restarted, tried to install Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver (fail)

-     Un-installed again, restarted, tried to just install just Photoshop and Illustrator (fail)

-     Used the CS Cleaner Tool, restarted, tried to install Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver (fail)

-     Used the CC Cleaner Tool, restarted, trying to just install Photoshop and Illustrator (fail)

This is a brand-new computer, so its definitely not a hardware issue, and I have a second computer that is running Dreamweaver CS4 just fine, but it was installed BEFORE Yosemite was installed. And that install was using the same disks (and they are clean and scratch free).

Am I missing something? Is there something that I have to do? I NEED Dreamweaver on this computer, and I'm not going out and buying a new one just because Yosemite doesn't like it.

Its so frustrating, I get to the "Insert Adobe CS4 Disk 2" pop-up and I can't click "OK" after I insert it!!!

Please help!

EDIT - last attempt didn't work either... sight.

DON'T WORRY I SOLVED IT MYSELF.

I downloaded the it off their website. Took a while, but it worked. Got Dreamweaver to work too.

Download CS4 products

Hope this can help someone else down the road.

I have the same issue with it not accepting the "ok" click after I insert it.

I tried to use the website download and it said I couldn't run an install when another was underway.
