Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it didn't work. Here is the full error message... perhaps it will make a difference:

What is your Windows version?

Can you check the following: Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services - is the Windows Module Installer set to Manual?  (This is how it should be.)

Thanks for your question Pat.  After spending 6 or 8 hours searching for solutions, making adjustments, restarting the computer, attempting the installation, and repeating the cycle over and over, I finally was able to get the software to install successfully. Somewhere along the line I do remember setting the Windows Module Installer to Manual (it seems to me it was disabled). I'm not sure if the last thing I did was responsible for correcting the issue or if it was a combination. However, I am posting what I did just prior to the successful installation because it may help someone else avoid several hours of frustration.

  1. Clear the transaction log:
    1. Open command prompt in Administrator mode
    2. Type the following:  fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\ [enter]
    3. Restart the system
  2. Repair the Microsoft windows Installer
    1. Open command prompt in Administrator mode
    2. Type the following: sfc /SCANNOW [enter]
    3. When the system scan completes, type msiexec /unreg [enter]
    4. Type msiexec /regserver [enter]
  3. Reinstall Acrobat

After the above steps, the Acrobat installation ran through to completion.
