Flash Builder 4.6 won't launch

New Here ,
Nov 11, 2012 Nov 11, 2012

Hi,

I downloaded 'Flash Builder and Mobile Device Pack' as part of an update to my Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection 6. I downloaded the update via the 'Adobe Application Manager'. The update failed. I looked at the error report attached to this failure, however, it just ended with the statement stating that the Flash Builder and Mobile Device Pack installation had failed. There was no reason given that I could see.

I wanted to try and download the update again. However, the update is no longer offered within the 'Adobe Application Manager'. This application tells me that all my applications are up tom date. Infact, the 'Adobe Application Manager' tells me that "Flash Builder and Mobile Device Pack"' is now installed.

However,I am unable to launch Flash Builder. When I click on the icon within the Start Screen of Windows 8 Pro x64, nothing happens.

Is there any way that I can force a re-download of the application or is there any way to repair an Adobe installation. Could I uninstall Flash Builder and then re-install it from scratch without affecting any of the other Adobe Applications?

My computer is running Windows 8 Pro x64.

Thanks.

I checked the applications I have installed, and all of the items that the error report state as bmissing are present on my system. The only one I query is Microsoft VC90. What is this? Can I downlaod it manually from the microsoft website? I've searched for it there and can't find it.

Everything was working fine until I tried to update 'Flash Builder 4.6' to Flash Builder with 'Mobile Device Pack'

Any idea how I can get round this issue?

Thanks.

It appears there are problems with your installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86), Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86), and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86).  I would recommend removing and reinstalling the redistributable packages.

Do you use a registry cleaner or some other type of system optimization utility btw?

Yes I do use a registry cleaner. I use two, infact.

I use CCleaner and Norton Utilites 15. Norton Utilities is also performs System Optimization, or at least that's what it claims. Would this affect the install?

Also, I have multiple installations of both the C++ 2005 and C++ 2010 x86, each of these are just different versions of the same file. Would I need to uninstall/install all of these? I tink each game I have installs it own version of the API.

Ta.

Registry cleaners can cause damage to your installed applications and components.  I would recommend that you create a back up of your registry in the registry editor prior to running either application.  This way you can recover from any damage which may occur.

As for your other question you will want to remove and reinstall each version you have installed.
