P: Add Tone Curve to Masking (Local Adjustment Tools)

One function I find invaluable, that is available in Capture One but not in Lightroom, is the availability of the Curve Tool in the masking portion of the Develop Module.  Can you please add Curve Tool function within the Develop Module's Mask Tool?

thanks,

Applying Curves locally, via masking, tis absolute necessary in the work/workflow of every photographer.

We need it and we need it desperately in Lightroom.

I dare to say that you at Adobe should not wait for this idea to be upvoted more to consider it.

Every photographer on the planet, amateur or pro, would have a use for curves in masking.

Update 10/18/2022

This feature was released in Camera Raw in the 15.0 version.

We anticipate this will be coming in a future release for Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop:

I am just confused about the "updating status" label.

Is the feature "under consideration".

Is that what you mean!?

- Open, in test, in design, in development, under consideration, rejected, to track, closed, done.

These are labels I understand.

Btw I am not asking for an ETA, but since this is a major, major request that would elevate our workflow exponentially it's worth knowing if it has even been considered.

"Updating status" feels like "Saving file in progress" but it's stuck.

"Updating Status" is an automated message that occurs when the value of the Status changes. It is automatically posted and marked as a correct answer. I have no control over this process.

In the upper right portion of this page the Status currently reads "Under review" which means it is 'under review'.  You can see the status of any bug and any feature request at any time by going to that area.

Deepest apologies Rikk, my eyes were drawn out the big "Updating Status" rather than the "Under Review" label.

Please feel free to delete the last comments I made, they are useless.

Very sorry for this !

OK, I'm offiially tickeed off.  Why the heck isn't tone curve for masks included in Lightroom Classic on this new version 12 release?  Come on, Adobe, get with it please.  I've been waiting for this feature for a while now and I see no reason why it should not be in Lightroom Classi if it is IN ACR.  This is going to reverse my workflow.

Curves in Masking is probably coming to LR soon.

Rest assured we will get it since ACR has it.

We can already, in a way,  do that by targeting a specific color (using a "Color Range") and adjusting the Hue slider, change "Saturation" and the other values in the Mask settings.

It is actually better than the HSL global tool that has fixed "ranges" for the colours that we can't control/decide.

Es extraño que no se puedan utilizar curvas en las máscaras de Lightroom Classic, como sí se pueden usar en Camera Raw. ¿Cuándo se implementará?

The new camera raw has more tools to use with a mask, such as color adjustmens an curves. In the past the trools of CR/LRC have been exactely the same. Also all adjustment had been synchronized via xmp file. Since the last updates this is broken, and masking in LRC is not the same as in CR. It would be so fine, if the CR tools would be inserted in LRC. Is there a chance in the next LRC release?

When these do come to LrC, and I expect it to be a "when", I will definitely welcome that. Certainly Adobe has up to now synchronised new features between LrC and ACR as soon as they could, albeit sometimes waiting for next major update of one or the other.

No idea what the difficulties or resources may be in this case. Could be a performance issue affecting LrC disproportionally, could be a sheer functional issue. Those who do know - could not say.

There is less workflow impact if a particular parametric adjustment becomes available in ACR before it becomes available in LrC, rather than the other way around. Otherwise LrC may send ACR parametric instructions that ACR can not understand, and full external-edit compatibility is broken.
