AI-Powered feature request - PNG & JPG to SVG Vector Conversion in Adobe Illustrator

New Here ,
Nov 04, 2025 Nov 04, 2025

It would be extremely useful to have a built-in feature in Adobe Illustrator that allows users to convert PNG and JPG images (such as posters, artwork, or logos) into scalable SVG vector files automatically using AI.

Currently, users must rely on manual tracing or third-party tools, which are often time-consuming, inconsistent, and require multiple adjustments. An AI-driven “Convert to Vector” option could analyze the image intelligently — detecting edges, colors, shapes, and text — and produce a clean, editable SVG version directly within Illustrator.

Key Benefits:

  • One-click conversion from raster (PNG/JPG) to vector (SVG).
  • AI-assisted precision, reducing the need for manual tracing or cleanup.
  • Supports posters, illustrations, and graphics with multiple colors and gradients.
  • Customizable vector quality and simplification options (e.g., edge smoothness, color tolerance).
  • Time-saving workflow integration for designers, illustrators, and digital artists.

This feature would significantly improve productivity and enhance Adobe Illustrator’s position as the go-to tool for vector-based design powered by intelligent automation.

The Image Trace panel does not do what you want?

Hi Monika,

Thanks for the quick response! Yes - I’m aware of the Image Trace panel, and while it’s definitely useful, this feature request goes a step beyond traditional tracing.

What I’m suggesting is an AI-powered “Convert to Vector” engine that could analyze raster images more intelligently - not just by color regions, but also by recognizing shapes, outlines, typography, and gradients to produce clean, editable SVGs with minimal manual correction.

In essence, it would be a next-generation evolution of Image Trace, using machine learning to understand the structure of artwork (posters, logos, illustrations) and convert them into layered, optimized vector output - much like how Adobe Firefly uses AI for content generation.

This could help streamline workflows for professionals who often need to convert client-provided JPG/PNG files into print-ready vector artwork - saving hours of cleanup and adjustment time.

Thanks again for your input - the current tools are great, but an AI-driven vectorization feature would be a real game-changer for modern design workflows! :artist_palette:🤖

The result in your video looks pretty crappy compared to what Image Trace does. It actually does recognize gradients and some shapes.

Can you saw the attached monalisa.svg file - Does that look crappy to you? That's done using Vectorizer.ai on one click.. same tool in video. See more attached examples
