It would be great to have a bar at the bottom of the color history (colors you have been using) similar to other apps, it is extremely useful as you dont have to go back and create separate square or swatches within the document.

Yes, as @Monika Gause mentioned, we have the capability to store recent colors. In the What's New modal window of Beta, you can find the details in the previous Beta features. I have highlighted it for you in the screenshot below.
