29.5.1 version a cpu hog

New Here ,

I'm having a terrible time with version 29.5.1 on an intel mac mini running macos 15.5. When Ai is completely idle, no file open, it runs at a constant 50-60% cpu and should I touch it like bring it to forground it jumps to 100%+ cpu utilization. This can't be right.

Anyone else running into this? If so, any ideas on how to solve or debug further? Thx.

Hello @zuluz,

Activity Monitor on macOS counts a single core as 100% CPU, so 50% is half the use of one core, 200% would mean full use of two cores, and so on.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

I see this daily with Illustrator 2025 constantly using 100% of one core with no documents open and idle in the background, on both Intel and M1 Ultra machines. Bridge 2025 also does the same thing, often together with AI slowing my computers down. Quitting and restarting both fixes it for a while, sometimes just a couple hours. Both machines are on Sonoma.
