I am using Illustrator 10, student edition for windows. For those who can't understand why I use such an old version, please forgive me, I was laid off my job while in school and didn't see a reason to up grade. (I've left out a lot out.) Since then, I have had to buy a few different computers, and of new operating systems. Until now, that has not been a problem. I now have a computer with windows 10, with latest updates. When I attempt to use this program on my windows 10 computer, I find there are no 3 D effects tools. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the program. It didn't help. I would upgrade, but unfortunatly, that is no longer a option. Since I am retired, I cannot afford a subscription. Any helpful suggestions are welcome. Thank-you.
3D-Effects have been introduced in version CS1 (which was the version after 10)

Ah, now I see, I looked at my old desktop, which still boots up. It has Illustrator CS on it. I knew I have made 3D effects in the past with Illustrator. I must have upgraded at least to CS. But, now, How do I get the up graded version from my desktop to my new laptop?

Probably not at all. You could try if it still works installing it and using the serial number. But I seem to remember that CS1 on Windows already used an activation server. So it might not be possible to activate it.

I believe it is a wonder that you can install and use AI10 on a (current) Windows 10.
And what Monika said.
