ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR doing weird stuff

Whenever I create a new document on illustrator it gives me 2 pages even though I clearly selected 1,
and when re opening documents they open in a slim window on the LHS window. What is wrong with this? I erased computer and installed everything from scratch and this is happening!!! anybody else having this issue??

You could have used the Window > New Window command while the file was opened.

Close the second window, modify something and save the file.
