Illustrator says compatible GPU not available when connected to the monitor using USB 4 Type C, but when I can connect to the monitor using a Display Port 1.4 it can detect my 4090. Is there a way to connect using the USB 4 Type C and still detect my 4090? I detest using a lot of cables, and USB 4 Type C can deliver data and video at the same time.

I have a desktop running Windows 11, here are the components.

- Asus Strix ROG 4090 LC

- Ryzen 9 7950x

- Crosshair x670e Hero

- 128GB Corsair Vengeance

Hello @Sid264942339pga,

Thank you for sharing details about the issue you're facing with Illustrator not detecting your GPU when connected via USB 4 Type C. I understand the convenience of using a single cable for data and video.

As a potential solution, in the NVIDIA Control Panel, try changing the resolution, frame rate, fixed frame rate/ G-sync on or off, make it the default/ Preferred graphics processor, and see if that helps.

Additionally, ensure that your Windows display settings are configured to use the NVIDIA GPU as the default.

Also, please check if GPU works on other Adobe or third-party apps when connected via USB 4 TYPE C.

After making these changes, restart Illustrator and check if it now recognizes your NVIDIA GPU when connected via USB 4 Type C.

If the issue persists, please let me know, and I'll continue to explore possible solutions with the product team. Your patience is appreciated!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Yes, Adobe PS, PR, AE can detect the GPU when using USB 4 Type C connection. The only one having issues is Adobe Illustrator.

Doing your suggested steps didn't work.

Other 3rd party programs can detect and use the NVIDIA GPU as well, even though it is connected via USB 4 Type C.
