Adobe Illustrator Issues running on a Mac Studio M4 Max

Community Beginner ,

I'm having issues with Abobe Illustrator (30.1) running on a Mac Studio M4 Max (48GB) , OS 26.2 (Tahoe).

Having searched on google it appears this as been an issue for some time.

When I expand a text box by dragging points or move a object by dragging. The text box or object jumps and this action also peforms an undo function. I.e you loose the last few steps.

If i toggle off the GPU performance and Realtime drawing it resolves the issue but Illustrator is very laggy, not really usable. If I toggle these settings back on it's O.K. for 30mins then the problem returns.

I know I only have 48Gb of ram but that should be ok surely, It seems to be an issue with the GPU.

All my other software works like a dream so i don't think it's a hardware issue.

Any ideas?

Yes, I think so. Adobe haven't kept this page current as Sequoia isn't the 'Latest' OS. Tahoe is, that said I had the same issue with Sequoia. When I searched on google it revealed very similar issues going back a few years, since the introduction of the Apple Silicon GPU.

how can you read the specs and not notice the processor requirement?

Apologies I'm not following you. It meets the processor requirments and exceeds the Ram requirements by far.

ARM-based Apple silicon processor

The GPU and CPU are unified. I have checked the desktop Adobe Illustrator spec page in detail and it meets it and exceeds it in all the right places. The only thing that doesn't match is the OS, that's why I mentioned it previously. I'm running the lastest OS.

Thank you. If anyone else reads this I tried a reinstall and the Cache. Neither resolved it, after a while the issue just returns.

LATEST

Typically 30min of use, sometime a couple of hours. I have taken to toggling on and off the GPU performace settings to reset it. This seems to be the current solution that others have used, but it's far from ideal. From what I can acertain Adobe is and has been working to optimise the GPU/CPU capabilities of the newer Silicon macs for illustrator but I'm finding it buggy. You could switch off GPU optimisation of course, but given the new mac design it runs really badly (laggy). I was curious to know how many others are suffering with this and I was hoping someone at Adobe might see the thread.

If that page is not yet "updated", then that means that the system needs to be treated with care and probably is indeed not compatible.
