400 MB is quite some size. Can you please describe that lagging? How long do you have to wait for what exactly?
What's in the file? Plaed images, patterns, transparency, text ....?

Thanks for your response,
Even for moving an image, i have to wait almost 10 seconds. this is happening for all the big images. I dont have any problem with the small files.
in the file I have many images, mesh, gradients and some gaussian blurs.
I have even, made those images as linked one's, still i face the same problem.

Thank You Mr. Anubhav Majumder
We have followed all the mentioned steps from the above article. but still it does'nt made any difference. I have even reduced the size of the file to 230MB by reducing the graphics by replacing the vectors to images. and even all the images are linked. I hope you understand my problem.
waiting for your reply.
Thanks & Regards

Hello ShafloutGraphic,
Thanks for confirming that. Kindly confirm if Illustrator is behaving this way with only this particular file. If yes, would you mind sharing the download link to the file here or via DM so we can check it on our end as well?
Also, is this file located on a network/external drive or a cloud-synced folder? If yes, kindly try moving the file to a location on the computer's internal drive, like the desktop, and check if it helps.
Looking forward to your response.
Regards.

Thanks for your reply,
If you ask whether Illustrator is behaving this way with only this particular file. No, I face this problem with almost every file with big size. Even if I made each and every thing in the file into images and used as linked images, i face the same problem.
At first I use to save them in Network and now I'm saving them in my local disc, the problem is same.
I will send the link of the file to you through direct message, if its ok.
Thanks & Regards

Hi. I have a similar problem with big files with lot of objects, textures, text. A 90 Mb file taks 60-70 seconds to be saved. C disc is a fast M2, cpu Ryzen 7 3700X runs till 4.400 Mhz, 16 Gb RAM DDE4 3200 and a Radeon 6600 gc 8 Gb. I guess taht's an Illustrator problem but not the hardware issue.

You don't have a lot of RAM there.
A minute of saving doesn't sound like a lot for a complex file.
Where do you save the file?

Use CTRL-ALT-DEL to provide access to "Task Manager". Select "Performance" tab. Follow the "Memory" trace as you open Illustrator, then as you open your file.
In my case using 26.4.1, my memory at rest with Illustrator 26.4.1 open is mid-60%. When I open my 200MB image file, Memory rises to 85%. If I open a brush, Memory leaps to 99%. At that point, Illustrator slows to a crawl. I've resolved my immediate issue by using 25.4.7 rather that 26.4.1. I've never seen a memory problem with the older version.

You don't have a lot of RAM there.
16 GB is just the recommended amount.

Just a minor note: Cntl-Shift-Esc will access the Task Manager directly.

is there any possibility of working in Outline mode?
sometimes changing the Document Raster Effects Setting to a lower DPI until you are ready to output helps if especially if there are lots of dropshadows and things like that.

Hello Shaflout2457670338es,
Sorry to hear about this experience. I would request you try resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html) and sharing your observations.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with the defaults. You may take a backup of these settings from the location mentioned in the article.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Anubhav
