Animated Zoom Stuck after new update Can’t Fix

Animated zoom is stuck with the new update!

Just downloaded the new update, not even 30 minutes into using it, my animated zoom was stuck. It has been stuck for 2 days now.

Im extremely well versed with AI in every direction. I have never touched animated zoom, and always have had it click & drag to zoom. It will NOT change from click and draw a box, zoom to box. 
I have tried it all...read the related forums, I've clicked the Animated zoom toggle like a million times..

 redownloading AI again now...
this is killing me.... I got work to do.. please help
