Any idea why some of my edges are flat instead of pointed?

Any Idea why those edges are flat? The stroke corner opion is set to corner, when I align the stroke to outside the path (it's the same shape as the green letters under it) it fixes the issue but I don't want the stroke outside the path.

You may experiment and change the miter limit in the Strokes palette.
