App selecting multiple objects by itself

I'm running through this error where Illustrator selects multiple objects in the workspace and locks the selection until I have to close the entire app and run it again. Closing just the document won't work. This happens oftenly when hitting ctrl+Z and crt+shift+Z and vice versa

Thanks for sharing the issue. That does sound annoying to deal with. I've tried to reproduce this on my end using Illustrator 29.5.1 on Windows 11, but I wasn't able to see the same behavior.

Could you confirm the version of Illustrator you're using and the details of your operating system? Also, is this happening with a specific file or with all documents? Let me know where the file is saved, is it on your local drive, an external or network drive, or synced to the cloud?

If possible, try launching your system in Safe Mode and see if the issue occurs there as well. Here's how:
