Auto-align to centre doesn't show anymore

Whenever I have an object and move it to the centre it doesn't show green lines that align with the centre of the artboard or a little green x when I am exactly at the centre of the artboard. It used to show this but somehow is now turned off. How do I turn this on again?

Does Cmd-U help? It's the toggle for Smart Guides.
