Can you check the Caps Lock key on your keyboard? Make sure it is not pressed.

I don't think Caps Lock is responsible for this.

With my German "qwertzu" keyboard, I can achieve/provoke the same result if I also hold down the [ö] key while drawing a shape.

Yes, sorry on my keyboard it is holding down the Tilde key ~ that does that.

Depending on the keyboard used, either the tilde key or the ö key is "responsible" for this.
