Auto resize image to match art board size on image copy

Newbie. 

windws 10, Adobe Illustrator 2023.

1) I create a new file (empty)

2) I drag image from windows folder onto Illustrator artboard

3) Now I manually resize it to match the artboard size. 

Is there an auto function to do part 3 ?

I can't image why anyone would NOT want to default to resize to the artboard.  But that is just me.
