I am using the following website to generate barcodes for our company's Sku numbers. Generally I work in InDesign and have no issues but in Illustrator the barcode once placed does not work. I tested it out on InDesign and it immediately works, just not in Illustrator. The barcode does not change at all in Illustrator, it just does not scan with the correct sku number. What may be preventing this? Unfortunately I am not able to use InDesign and must use Illustrator so I need to find a solution. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have found the issue
The setting for between kerning on the text areas used for the barcode on the document was set to Optical. This caused Illustrator to dynamically adjust the kerning between glyphs based on glyph width. This doesnāt work for barcode fonts because the distance between the glyphs is a mathematical set distance for the barcodes and cannot change otherwise it means different data for the reader. Make sure that all text areas where a barcode font is used is set to a kerning value
