Bizarre layout issue in Illustrator

Evening all [or morning]]

Just signed up for the 7 day trial with Illustrator, but it's acting very wierd. As per my 2 images, this is how it loads on opening, when I click the app icon, I get the workspace as per image 2. 

Can anyone shed light on it, it was okay, but suddenly this behaviour started... Thanks!

Just to add, I'm on an M2 Max MBP running Sonoma [Public] Beta

That is probably the reason, public beta and an app not optimized for a beta OS.
