Hi all,

Unskilled Illustrator user here, please bear with me.  I have just upgraded to a new Mac and Illustrator 2024.  I was previously using an Illustrator 2020 on an older Mac.  Printing to an older HP OfficeJet 5264.  Previoulsy I had no issue printing files from my last computer/Ai program - lines were clear and straight.  Now it doesn't matter if its a new file or old file, all of my lines are printing printing fuzzy/blurry.  Lines are also printing darker than the grey I've been using.  Anyone have any guidance on how to solve this problem?  Thank you!!

Hello @paperart9708,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind sharing more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, a public link to a sample file after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc., screenshots of the print settings used, and the print output, so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

I'm running MAC OS Sonoma V14.6.1 and Adobe Illustrator 2024 (v28.6?). IMG_5068 shows my original (old computer printout) compared to a darker/newer printout. I've also provided a screen shot of my print settings. I have made no changes to the files themselves.

Which color mode is the document? It looks like you are sending RGB or not pure clack to the printer and then get a halftone screened result

Does the printer handle PostScript? Maybe the printer's interpretation of the artwork is not correct.

Does it get better when you print a CMYK file with 100% black from Acrobat?

THis could be caused by a printer not being able to handle PostScript or perhaps your new printer supports helftone output and you are just not used to it.

Does it get better when you print the file from Acrobat? In that case the reason would be a lack of PostScript support
