Brushed metal surface? Help needed.

Hi there!

What is he best way to create a high resolution vertical brushed metal surface with Illustrator? Vector-based, no pixels/raster images involved. The desired appearance should be something like this:

I would basically go with this short tutorial. https://vectordiary.com/brushed-metal-effect/

But instead make the grain effect on a separate object with a black and white gradient and then expand appearance and autotrace it.

Afterwards experiment either with gradients on the grain or with transparent overlays.
