Bonjour,

Does the font contain the character you've just written or the one you want to write?

I can write any character I want, doesn't seem to be relied on to the font.

So basic latin characters without any accents do not work?
Do you have any font manager?
Is that a quality font?
Did you already reboot the system and reset the preferences? (resetting prefs will erase your settings)

Even the ones with accents do not work. They just all appear in the wrong font and then I need to select them all to change the font. And after that, if I need to add any letter in the middle of the sentence, it will be once again in the wrong font.
I do have a font manager. I deleted the problematic font, but it didn't fix the issue as now Illustrator seems to look for this former font in priority. It is the Akira Expended Super Bold font. I did reboot the system and reset the preferences, nothing works.
