bug report: Illustrator CC 2015 export artboards to svg

Community Beginner ,
Jun 16, 2015 Jun 16, 2015

In new illustrator CC 2015 when I need to save every artboard as svg files (File--->save as..---> svg--> use artboard...) - the files is null (no artwork in the saved files). When I save and did not choose "use artboard" I can see artwork in saved svg.

When I open the same file in Illustrator CC 2014 - I can save artboard as svg without any problem.

Hi,

We have released a patch 19.0.1 that fixes the issue being discussed on this thread. Please apply the patch from your creative cloud application. The creative cloud application checks for update once a day hence you may not see the update right away.  If you want to force the check for an update early please logout and log back into the Creative Cloud application.

I was going to suggest using Multiexporter script available on Github, but it seems that's been broken too

Export Illustrator Layers to SVG files | Thomas Byrne

I'm so glad that I kept my previous versions of CC apps when I upgraded. That's a workflow I can't do without.

Reeka, others,

There seem to be some unsolved issues with CC 2015, not least concerning SVGs. You may wish to roll back to CC 2014, if uninstalled you may reinstall CC 2014 from the previous versions tab in the CC management app.

Using the CC desktop management app, go to the gear icon at the upper right. Find the Illustrator install and there should be an "In Previous Versions" option.

You may uninstall 2015 for now if you wish.

Well, why?

You can install them side by side.

Well, why not, Monika, for anyone wishing to await the solution of issues?

And it was not an advice, merely the statement of an option.

GRRRR.....   Get it together Adobe.

Same problem here.  I use this function to save out my svg icon fonts.

I reinstalled AI 2015; no fix.  I cant even go back to AI 2014.

If you have Creative Cloud is should be straightforward to re-download Illustrator 2014. Go to the Creative Cloud menu and scroll down the "Apps" until you see "Previous Versions".

AI 2015 seems to have disabled AI 2014 and it doesn't show up in that list.

As a semi-workaround, you can export each art board individually though.

I'm afraid that's the Creative Cloud app filtering applications in an attempt to be concise and "user-friendly". Here's a screenshot of mine and where you need to click to see all older versions. Click the blue "Previous Version" in "Find additional apps" and it will show you a list of filters. Click "All Apps". Illustrator should then show up. Click the "Install" button and it should show previous version numbers. You want version 18.0. You will now be able to reinstall Illustrator CC 2014.

Thanks for the help Drawingbuddy.  I am guessing there are multiple versions of Creative Cloud apps out there too... Here's my app with no dropdown options.

Does this mean there is no AI listed in your version of CC management app? Did you try clicking on the install button for AI? You will need to do this to get the list of options.

I assure you it's there. If you look on the right on your screenshot it says "All Apps". Click the dropdown menu there and scroll down to the bottom that says "View Previous Versions".

You will then see the full list with various versions available once you click "Install".

This shows the UI is very poorly designed.
