Can't change color of a specific font in Illustrator

For some reason I can't change the color fill or stroke of the font Macbeth Reguler in Illustrator. The other fonts work fine. As you can see in the screenshot attached, the text is selected, a red color fill is above but it only displays as black. Nothing happens even when I use the eyedropper tool, it's just black. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

If it's an image-based SVG font, you cannot change it's colour as you would other vector-based fonts.

If you do a quick internet search, you can find tutorials on workarounds.
