The title summarises my issue - I have tried ticking "Show bounding box" and I have also reset my preferences but I'm still only able to rotate an object via "Properties".
I have been experiencing other issues like not being able to hide, move, or delete certain layers from the "Layers" tab - Could this be related?
I have used Illustrator for work in the past with no issues but this is my first installing it on my laptop for personal purposes.
I'm currently running Adobe Illustrator CC 27.1.1
Any help would be much appreciated as I'm attempting to kickstart my freelancing journey.

Restarting your machine won't hurt and if that does not help, try resetting preferences:

Thank you for your quick reply but I have already tried these steps and unfortunately have the same outcome.

Removing and reinstalling is worth trying.

I hope it doesn't come down to that. Thanks again for your suggestions.

I am running out of ideas, hope someone comes up with some other suggestions.

UPDATE: I have just realised that I am able to rotate two selected objects but not one - even stranger than I originally thought.
