Hey guys,
I've been having trouble working on files which are complex and thought that my laptop just wasn't powerful enough as every action was super laggy. Fast foreward a few weeks and my husband has spent close to $2k building me a new computer and i'm still experiencing the same thing. Wondering if anybody would be able to offer any insight? I'm still pretty much a noob when it comes to illustrator, I'm just playing around with artwork that I've purchased off creative market. I'm not having speed issues with simple files but anything with a lot of paths like the following file I can barely manipulate as there is a few second lag everytime I try to move something.

My husband is now wondering whether he bought a powerful enough processor or if i need more ram. I'm wondering whether its something I need to change within illustrator (i struggle using outline mode) or if the artworks arent set out properly. I've attached my PC specs (it doesnt show it but the video card is a GTX 1650 Super) if anybody has any insight or wisdom they'd be willing to share? Thanks so much
Your computer looks fine, but the file is horrible.
It contains 188008 paths and 1502052 points. Many repeating (auto traced) objects that probably once were symbols.
I would say the file is the problem, not your computer.

Hey, thanks so much for the insight. It's a relief that it's the file and not my computer. Didn't realize I could check how many paths and points a file had but just researched how to do this so I can keep it in mind for other files. Thanks again 🙂
