advaitp,

As you may have found, the limit is 16,384 points, or the equivalent in other units.

In addition to what Lutz said, you may choose the most appropriate scale (1:2, 1:4, 1:6, 1:10, whichever) which best suits your purpose and unit. Then you may instruct the printer or save a copy as PDF and then set the page size to the full value.

Remember to set any possible raster effects (Effect>Document Raster Effects Settings) so that the final resolution becomes right (increase it by the rev

create a new file. Got to the file tab and click New.

Before youcreate it change the size to whatever you want.

Now you have a giant canvas to whatever you specify.

You can't nor should it be necessary. Simply work at half scale or something.

Remember to set any possible raster effects (Effect>Document Raster Effects Settings) so that the final resolution becomes right (increase it by the reverse scale, such as double for 1:2, tenfold for 1:10 and so on). Any raster images should have an adequate size in pixels x pixels to get the right resolution too, of course.

it's extremely frustrating when I'm used to working in photoshop and can create files 6-700" wide. Working in illustrator at 50% or 25% is awkward to say the least (seeing as I've been working at 100% for many years), especially when working with bleeds of 0.25" at full size. I don't find the AI snap to-guides works anywhere near as well as the photoshop snap to guides, and the lack of ability to increase canvas size to left/right/up/down as in photoshop is even more frustrating.

Anyone know of plugins that might help with more accurate placement of guides and better "snap-to"?
