Cannot seem to export or save as to SVG with objects inside the artboard (for repeatable patterns)

Hello,

I have been trying relentlessly to save as or export my artboard to be used as a repeatable pattern.

I have objects that move over the artboard line and therefore need to only save what is within the artboard.

I have tried export and save as, for SVG, ticking the checkbox each time for "use artboard" but it saves all of the objects outside the artboard.

what could possibly being going wrong here? thanksScreenshot 2024-02-02 at 5.39.21 pm.png

If you create a pattern it has an invisible rectangle in the back.

Does it work if you copy that rectangle, paste it in front, select all and make clipping mask?

Thanks, I think this worked. If I am not making a pattern, is this still the way to clip items to the artboard?

CLipping masks work in SVGs. Whether or not this will be working in your situation depends upon your use of that SVG. If you want to use it in your plotter, then a clipping mask might not be a good way.
