Even though I can see my work is saved, when I re-open the file none of my changes is visible. Is there any way I can find my work? The file name remained the same.

Where do you save your files?

Is "Save in background" turned on in the preferences? What you describe sounds like a typiocal issue that option can cause under certain circumstances.

Yes, Save in Background is turned on. Is there any other ramifications if I turn it off?
