Clean-up a Free Distort graphic.

I created the gaphic on the left, tilted and trurned it as a 3D object, then used AI's free distort / fish eye, to get the graphic on the right.  However when I hover over it with the selection tool, there appears this yellow ghosting of the original two dimensional graphic.  I would like to remove the yellow ghoasted overlay. Advice / help would be much appreciated.

Select the object and go to Object menu > Expand Appearance.
